About the Symposium

The Eckerd College Science Symposium was established in 2009 to promote the public understanding of science. The symposium encourages collaboration and communication among notable scientists, alumni, faculty, staff and students and welcomes visitors to learn more about Eckerd College. A student photo contest, and resulting exhibit, offers everyone an opportunity to share in a visual feast of science.

Members of the 2013 Science Symposium Planning Committee are:

  • Jeff Dodge ’84, Ph.D., Senior Research Fellow, Eli Lilly and Company;
  • Denise Flaherty, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Biology, Eckerd College;
  • David Grove, Ph.D., Professor of Chemistry, Eckerd College;
  • Karin Musier-Forsyth ’84, Ph.D., Professor and Ohio Eminent Scholar in Biological Macromolecular Structure, The Ohio State University;
  • Cathy Price ’68, Ph.D., Senior Research Toxicologist, RTI International;
  • Sue Slaugenhaupt ’85, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Neurology, Center for Human Genetic Research at Harvard Medical School; and
