Eckerd College is the foundation of what has evolved into a love affair with community outreach. Although my move from home to Eckerd was only over the Skyway Bridge, my college experience challenged me to carve out my own place in the world, by creating a distinct role for myself at Eckerd and later in the St. Petersburg community.
My public relations career has led me to my current position as the Integrated Media Manager at Tampa creative agency, SPARK. I am married with a daughter, Evangeline, and my long-term goals in life are to serve my community in a greater political capacity. I have been really lucky over the course of my career to be involved with some amazing organizations; volunteering for the Carter G Woodson Museum, the Dali Museum, Creative Clay, Dentistry from the Heart and Southeastern Guide Dogs.
While working at the city of St. Petersburg, I managed the Green City marketing initiative allowing me to coordinate environmental awareness events including Pinellas County's largest environmental clean-up event at Clam Bayou.
When I came to Eckerd, I thought volunteering was getting dirty on a Saturday afternoon, but I quickly learned that volunteering can provide all kinds of rewarding experiences. As a resident advisor, I worked with my peers through Into the Streets and Eckerd College clean- up events. In Quest for Meaning, I volunteered to coordinate Festival of Hope. After college I hosted volunteer Eckerd students while working at Southeastern Guide Dogs and through the city of St. Petersburg's Business Assistance Center. And now I work with multiple
community boards and am involved with my neighborhood association.
My biggest "A Ha" moment during my time at Eckerd is the realization that my love for leadership comes from my greater need to serve. A calling that grows stronger every day and something I hope to instill in my children.
