Letter to Faculty and Staff

Hi everyone,

We completed, last Friday [August 26th, 2005], a very successful "Into the Streets". In spite of the threatening weather, which forced us to cancel the outdoor opportunities, we had a 50% increase in student attendance. Outstanding!!

Sitting in Fox hall afterwards with the gourmet food of corn dogs, etc, it was obvious from the energy level in the room that the experience was good, and people did enjoy themselves. Isn't it amazing that service to others can also be so much fun? The final Ceremony, that of the choosing the "Dirtiest, Smelliest, Grungiest Freshman", had several students anxious to be chosen, and it was really difficult to select the winner who shall be nameless. (Who wants to be remembered by this title for the rest of their College career? The prize of soap and shampoo was appreciated by not only the winner, but the rest of us.)

Thank you very much for showing that the rewards for Community Service can be so rewarding.
