Serv-a-palooza 2005

SERV-A-PALOOZA was a week of college-sponsored service activities. It began with a volunteer opportunity to Boyd Hill led by the Knox House Service Dorm and ended with a dance in which all proceeds were donated to charity. In between there was a speaker on Global Service and the AIDS pandemic in Africa, a school wide service opportunity, and a party to celebrate service. The highlight of SERV-A-PALOOZA came during the Festival of Hope, a festival that allows seniors to showcase how they served the community during Fall Semester. It was an opportunity for all the students to come together, listen to some live music, and learn more about service.
At the end of the week there was a service event also called SERV-A-PALOOZA. This opportunity to do community service was meant to be one last volunteering "hoorah" for all the seniors. However, the event was open to all students to participate. Even some staff members came out to do some service, such as Casey Paquet in the Communications Office.
Overall it was an exciting week. Participation in all the events was high, especially considering SERV-A-PALOOZA was held late in the semester. Hopefully it will be a tradition that will be carried on into the upcoming years.
