Community Based Programming
Eckerd College students participate in Service-Learning on the local, national, and international levels.
Autumn Term: Into The Streets
Autumn Term serves as a foundation for incoming first year students embarking upon their educational journey at Eckerd College. During Autumn Term Eckerd College freshmen have the opportunity to participate in a three-day Into the Streets service program and work with agencies in the Tampa Bay Area to perform meaningful service work
Service & Celebration
The Office of Service-Learning offers weekly Service and Celebration events, in which students participate in off-campus service activities.
Spring Break Service Trips
The Eckerd College Office of Service-Learning offers students, staff, and faculty the opportunity to propose and develop Spring Break Service-Learning trips. These trips travel both domestically and internationally, and focus on a variety of service causes and issues.
Spring Break 2014 sent students out to the Bahamas, Belize, California, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ocala National Forest, Georgia, Iceland, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico.
Bahamas - Service in the Bahamas: A Week with the Cat Island Community.
Belize - You Better Belize it! Volunteer at the Liberty Children's Home in Belize.
California - Cultivating Mindfulness through Service: Buddhist Monasticism.
Costa Rica - Rescue the Rascals! Volunteer at Costa Rica Wildlife Rescue and Sanctuary.
Dominican Republic - Fostering Education and Sustainability in Rural Dominican Republic.
Ecuador - Preserving and Living the Indigenous Way of Life.
El Salvador - Rebuilding a Broken Community: El Salvador.
Florida - Forests of Florida.
Georgia - A Week in the Trees.
Iceland - Taking Back the Trails: Natural Conservation in Iceland.
New Jersey - #ECServesNJ, Serving the Atlantic City Community.
Puerto Rico - Spiritual Environmental Work.
