Dominican Republic: Spring Break 11

When we arrived to Santo Domingo we were greeted by our bus company, Tropical Tours, who shuttled us around La Romana for the rest of our stay. We checked into our hotel, where we had five rooms (one for the boys and four for the girls), located in the center of La Romana. Breakfast and dinner were provided by the hotel and lunch was provided by Hogar del Nino, the day care center where we worked Monday-Friday.
At the Hogar, we stenciled, painted, and decorated five classrooms, fed and stimulated infants, and practiced English with adolescents. The Hogar educated and medically treated children (with ages ranging from infants to 18 yrs) of single mothers. There were four females college graduates working at the Hogar who were very helpful in providing activities and helping our group make the most of our DR experience.
On the last day of our trip, we went on a cruise where we snorkeled and spent the day on Catalina Island. It was a great way to relax after a long week.
