Chicago: Fall Break 05

View photos from Fall Break in Chicago
Following the popularity of the Spring Break Service projects, the Office of Service-Learning organized a Fall Break service trip to Chicago this year. 10 students devoted the long weekend to service in the Windy City where they volunteered with the Genesis House, an agency devoted to helping street prostitutes and drug addicts. The group also volunteered at the REST Homeless shelter where they served food and re-organized a food pantry. Students also visited the famous Hull House, part of the complex founded by the great Jane Addams, an early 20th Century feminist, social reformer and early practitioner of service-learning.
Students also had time to see the great sights of Chicago such as the Art Institute, Sears Tower, Water Tower, Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium. The group also saw the play "Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind" on Saturday night--a performance of 30 plays in 60 minutes.
