Kentucky: Spring Break 07

This past March ten student went to Mt. Vernon, Kentucky for six days. As an environmental service trip, students volunteered with Appalachian Science in Public Interest (ASPI). ASPI in an environmental advocacy and service group that fights for environmental justice through out Eastern Kentucky. Due to the poverty in Appalachia, often times environmental deprivation is a huge issue. Eckerd Students participated in nature clean ups, local organic farming, global warming seminars, and service learning projects including coal mining conflicts of Hazard, KY, as well as sustainable living projects of Berea College.
