The Flicks That I Saw

It is hard to say what my favorite films were here at Sundance as there were so many great innovative films. Sin Nombre definately stood out as one of the best and most moving films about gangs and immigration. It was beautifully shot and masterfully intimate. TheImmaculate Conception of Little Dizzlei was one of the weirdest for sure, but was really well done and edited fantastically. Men poop out fish after getting addicted to cookies that warm up in your mouth… need I say more? Shrink was also a really multi-dimensional film about a Hollywood shrink going through tough times. It was ballanced perfectly with the right amount of halariousness and sincerity.

On the other end of the spectrum was Mystery Team which was the stupidest comedy I have ever seen. It was not witty or redeeming in any way. The Missing Personwas a boring film that was a slow paced noir very little that grabbed my attention. Overall, the movies at Sundance this year were great and below is a list of others that I saw, most of which moved me in one way or another and will stay with me for a long time.

Johnny Mad Dog: A graphic and extremely intense look into the brutal civil war and the child soldiers in Liberia.

The Killing Room: This is a great psychological thriller about people stuck in a room. Nick Cannon Blew me away.

Big River Man: Fantastic documentary about the world record holding long distance swimmer who also happens to be a drunk, overweight, Sloven man.

Shorts Program III: Three out of the seven were great and really interesting, the other few… not so much. Really weird, but cool to see what directors can accomplish in just a few minutes.

Dead Snow: Nazi zombies start brutally killing a bunch of sexing drunk kids on vacation. Rock on!

The Carter: A cool insight into the world of Lil Wayne.

The End of The Line: Extremely factual and real look into the issue of over fishing.

Adventureland: Good date movie. Really awkward humor was halarious at times, but pretty sappy at others.

Bronson: A look at England’s most nortorious criminal. Extremely wierd and graphic. There is a great deal of penis showing and it makes you feel crazy at the end.

Grace: The creepiest movie I have ever seen about a zombie baby. People fainted afterwards in the box office.

Tromadance Shorts: Horrific and weird.

No Impact Man: A great documentary about a family and their relationships that chooses to make no environmental for a whole year.

Moon:  A great philisophical si-fi flick about a man that is on the moon working for a corperation before he realizes that things are not what they seem.
