As a final exclamation point on what was a whirlwind year for Eckerd College, the Athletic Department hosted a dinner on Saturday, May 13th, to honor all the Triton student-athletes who helped Eckerd excel both in the classroom and in competition during the 2005-06 academic year. Over 20 student-athletes were recognized by Director of Athletics Dr. Bob Fortosis for their outstanding accomplishments during the dinner which was held in Fox Hall on the Eckerd College campus.

Head Men's Basketball Coach Tom Ryan has added some more talent to his 2006-07 roster with the recent addition of three new players, two of whom are transfer students and one incoming freshman will join a squad who went 21-8 in the 2005-06 season and made it to the semifinals of the Sunshine State Conference Basketball Tournament.

When the Intercollegiate Tennis Association released their 2006 regional award winners, the Eckerd College name was represented more than any other school in the Southeast Region as they garnered four of the ten honors for both male and female competitors, twice as many awards as the next closest school.

Eckerd College senior tennis standout Sebastian Niedermayer has one more award to add to his collection of accomplishments as he is the recipient of the 2006 ITA/Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship. This is one of the highest honors handed out by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and an award which combines many aspects of an athlete's college career. This honor goes to a player who has exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership, as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.

Sophomore third baseman Lindsey Reynolds earned All-Conference recognition after a break out season in which she led her team in several offensive categories.

The Nova Southeastern University baseball team swept the Tritons (14-35, 5-19 SSC) by 12-3 and 13-12 scores on Saturday Afternoon at the NSU Baseball Complex. The Sharks earned a sweep of the three-game Sunshine State Conference series.
