Volleyball Earns its Second Trip to the NCAA Playoffs

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - For the second time in as many years, the Eckerd College women’s volleyball team will be headed to the NCAA Postseason Tournament, once again as the No. 4 seed in the South Region Championships, hosted by the University of Tampa on November 15th - 17th.
This year’s announcement, held in the Triton Pub on campus, was broadcast over the NCAA/CSTV web cast and received a lukewarm response from the 14 ladies who will be wearing the Teal and Navy in the tournament.

Volleyball Makes History with Sweep of Bucs

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The Eckerd College volleyball team made more history this year by sweeping Barry University for the first time ever in a season. The Tritons won on the road 3-1 (24-30, 30-22, 30-27, 30-27) at the Health and Science Center in South Florida on Tuesday evening in Sunshine State Conference action.
The victory equals the Tritons' win total from last year's memorable season as Eckerd now stands at 21-8 overall and are 7-5 in the Sunshine State Conference, while Barry, a national champion just three years ago, falls to 11-16 overall and 3-8 in the SSC.

Volleyball Gets Huge Upset Win

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Eckerd College volleyball team proved their worth on Sunday afternoon as they traveled to hostile territory and defeated #24 West Florida in a thrilling five-game contest 3-2 (30-21, 22-30, 30-23, 21-30, 17-15). This crucial late-season win puts the Tritons at 19-7 overall while UWF is now 25-4.
Eckerd cruised through game one with the lead the entire game, as the Argos started the match with four attack errors in the first eight points. Eckerd finished game one with 15 kills and only two errors, led by Lydee Benoit with 5 kills. The Argos recorded nine attack errors to help the Tritons earn the opening victory.

Good News Comes in Threes for Volleyball

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The good news was coming in nonstop for the Eckerd College volleyball team on Wednesday. Not only did they defeat the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras in thrilling comeback fashion, but junior middle blocker Keisha Carter was named Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight time and the Tritons found out they are third in the initial NCAA South Region rankings released earlier today.
Carter, hailing from Tallahassee, Florida, was again a force at the net, leading the Tritons to a 3-0 weekly slate. Carter averaged 2.1 blocks and 0.4 digs per game, helping limit Eckerd’s opponents to a .129 hitting percentage.

Volleyball's Carter Named SSC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

ORLANDO, Fla. - For the first time this year the Eckerd College volleyball team has one of their own atop the Sunshine State Conference this week as junior middle blocker Keisha Carter was rewarded for her outstanding performances by being named Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
The Tallahassee native led the Tritons to a 2-1 weekly slate, averaging 1.7 blocks and 0.5 digs per frame. She registered seven blocks and two digs in a three-game sweep against Lynn and then posted 11 blocks and a pair of digs as the Tritons took No. 1 Tampa to five games. Carter rounded out the week with three digs and four blocks in a five-game victory over Saint Leo.

Volleyball Tabbed Fourth in SSC Preseason Voting

ORLANDO, Fla. - Coming off the program's first-ever NCAA postseason appearance, the Eckerd College volleyball team has been tabbed fourth in preseason conference voting which was announced by the Sunshine State Conference earlier today.
The defending NCAA Division II national champion Tampa Spartans are expected to win the 2007 Sunshine State Conference volleyball championship, Commissioner Michael J. Marcil announced.

Volleyball Releases 2007 Schedule

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - On the volleyball side we see Head Coach Courtney Draper’s team looking to return to their dominating form of 2006 where they went 21-14 which included competition in the very tough Sunshine State Conference, and where they also made the first-ever trip to the NCAA Postseason Tournament.
They look to prove to everyone that last year’s success was not a fluke.
