Bill Buttner enters his fifth season as Head Men's Golf Coach for the 2005-06 academic year but starts his initial campaign as the head coach of the Triton's women's golf team in its first year of existence.  Buttner was honored as the 2005 Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year, after his Tritons placed third at the SSC Tournament that year, and his men's team advanced to NCAA regional postseason competition after a successful 2006 season.

Buttner, a 1978 graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, brings to Eckerd a wealth of playing and teaching experience to the program.  He enjoyed a 15-year professional career, including six years on the PGA Tour, five US Open appearances, two years on the Nike Tour, and several more years on various international tours. Buttner has also served as a professional instructor for all levels of the game.
