Hawkins Saves Her Way to Conference Player of the Week

Women's SoccerORLANDO, Fla. - Eckerd College women's soccer freshman Cory Hawkins has proven this week that an excellent individual effort can sometimes overshadow a poor team showing as she was named Defensive Player of the Week in the Sunshine State Conference for the week of October 15-21, it was announced by Conference Commissioner Michael J Marcil on Monday afternoon.

Hawkins, a native of Silver Spring, Maryland, amassed an amazing 51 saves, as the Tritons suffered a pair of losses and tied No. 10 Nova Southeastern.

Women's Soccer Draws Even with #10 Sharks

Women's SoccerST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd College women's soccer team posted a tremendous result against visiting #10 ranked Nova Southeatern University as they earned a 1-1 draw with the Sharks in Sunshine State Conference action on Tuesday night.

Eckerd struck early as seniors Liz Kinny and Paige Lewis connected to put the Lady Tritons up 1-0. In the 10th minute Lewis corralled a long pass from Kinny in the right corner and managed to work it past two defenders and blast a prayer that caught the inside of the crossbar and deflected into the net.

Women's Soccer Picked Ninth in Conference Preseason Voting

Women's SoccerORLANDO, Fla. - The Eckerd College women's soccer team is putting themselves in a position to show everyone in the Sunshine State Conference that the preseason polls were wrong. The first polls of the 2007 season showed that the Tritons are expected to finish in ninth place in the conference this year, a repeat of where they finished 2006.

Defending Sunshine State Conference Champion Tampa has been selected as the preseason favorite to repeat as women's soccer champions, Commissioner Michael J. Marcil announced Wednesday.

Women's Soccer Releases 2007 Schedule

Women's SoccerST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd College women’s soccer team gets their 2007 schedule underway at home as they face Webber International in a preseason exhibition match in a Wednesday evening game on August 22nd.

The Tritons then travel to Pensacola at the end of August where they face North Alabama and Christian Brothers University, a previous Division II National Champion, whom the Tritons defeated 2-1 in overtime last year.
