FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - With her team down 2-0 in the 60th minute, senior defender Bonnie Wessler scored her third goal of the season, a header directly off a corner kick by Nicole Bonnani, to trim the difference to 2-1. The Eckerd Tritons (4-11, 0-7 SSC), however, could not convert a number of golden opportunities to tie the game before the Nova Southeastern Sharks (7-4-3, 1-4-2 SSC) would go on to defeat the Tritons by a 3-1 score on Tuesday evening at the NSU Soccer Complex.

Eckerd Women’s Soccer Tops Canes in OT in Season Opener

AMERICUS, Ga. - Megan Gunzelman (Jr., Bowie, Md.) scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 96th minute, as the Eckerd Tritons (1-0) defeated the Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes (0-1) by a score of 2-1 in extra time on Friday evening at Georgia Southwestern Field.

In the 10th minute, Brittney Hill gave the Canes a 1-0 lead after a corner kick by Elizabeth Keller.

The Tritons would equalize just before halftime, as Gunzelman dribbled down the right side and ripped a shot past Canes ‘keeper Christy Drabek from 10 yards out.

Hawkins Saves Her Way to Conference Player of the Week

Women's SoccerORLANDO, Fla. - Eckerd College women's soccer freshman Cory Hawkins has proven this week that an excellent individual effort can sometimes overshadow a poor team showing as she was named Defensive Player of the Week in the Sunshine State Conference for the week of October 15-21, it was announced by Conference Commissioner Michael J Marcil on Monday afternoon.

Hawkins, a native of Silver Spring, Maryland, amassed an amazing 51 saves, as the Tritons suffered a pair of losses and tied No. 10 Nova Southeastern.

Women's Soccer Draws Even with #10 Sharks

Women's SoccerST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd College women's soccer team posted a tremendous result against visiting #10 ranked Nova Southeatern University as they earned a 1-1 draw with the Sharks in Sunshine State Conference action on Tuesday night.

Eckerd struck early as seniors Liz Kinny and Paige Lewis connected to put the Lady Tritons up 1-0. In the 10th minute Lewis corralled a long pass from Kinny in the right corner and managed to work it past two defenders and blast a prayer that caught the inside of the crossbar and deflected into the net.
