Courtney Draper

Courtney Draper enters her fourth season as the leader of the Eckerd College Volleyball program.  Entering the 2007 season, Draper is coming off what is, arguably, the most successful season that Eckerd College has ever seen on the volleyball court.

2006 RegionHer 2006 Tritons posted a 21-14 overall record, third best in EC history, and finished tied for third in the Sunshine State Conference, their highest finish ever.  The most amazing accolade Coach Draper claimed as a result of such an impressive year was that the Tritons finished fourth in the NCAA Division II South Region and were invited to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the programs history. The 2006 Tritons also yielded the SSC's Freshman of the Year in Lydee Benoit and the All-South Region selection in Angela White.  She managed to accomplish all of that while pregnant with her first child, Logan Elizabeth, who was born in January of 2007.

In 2005 her Tritons finished four games under .500 at 12-16 and went 3-11 in the tough Sunshine State Conference. In her first season at Eckerd, Draper led the Tritons to a 7-9 record, the best conference mark for the Tritons since 2001.

Draper played four seasons at Florida State University under legendary head coach Dr. Cecile Reynaud, where she earned a starting position as a walk-on her sophomore year. During her playing career at Florida State, Draper (formerly Dipert) helped lead the Seminoles to an Atlantic Coast Conference championship in 1998 and NCAA Tournament appearances in 1997 and 1998. During her senior year, Draper was the recipient of the Golden Nole, awarded to the team’s most valuable player.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in sports management and completed her master’s degree in sports administration at Florida State in 2001.

Coach DraperDraper spent two seasons as an assistant at Florida State where she specialized in recruiting and scouting. After Reynaud retired in 2001, Draper accepted an assistant job at Duke University where she served as the program’s recruiting coordinator and director of Duke Volleyball camps.

In 2003, Draper received her first head coaching position at Jacksonville University, where the Dolphins went 15-15 and reached the Atlantic Sun Tournament for a third consecutive year. The then-25-year-old native of Lisle, Ill., was the youngest head coach in NCAA volleyball in 2003.

Draper resides in St. Petersburg with her husband Mark, daughter Logan and the family's dog, Addison.

Just months after finishing her three year playing career at Eckerd, Kelly Morrisroe joined Courtney Draper's staff as an assistant coach. The two year team captain at Eckerd led the Tritons to their first
ever NCAA Tournament appearance and a 21-14 finish in 2006.

In 2005, the libero amassed 4.52 digs per game, a statistic that ranks 2nd in Eckerd record books, while being named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week twice. The Jensen Beach native is also the first player to play for head coach Courtney Draper during all four years of college, her first as a member of the Jacksonville University volleyball team, and the last three on the McArthur Center floor.

Morrisroe has coached with the Pinellas Heat Elite Volleyball Club for the past two seasons. In March, Morrisroe was named the assistant coach for the Team Florida High Performance Youth Blue Team. The team earned a fourth place finish in the Gold Division - the highest finish of any squad in the Team Florida program at the High Performance Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. in July.

Morrisroe graduated from Eckerd in May of 2007 with a bachelor's degree in Communication. She is currently working on her master's degree in Physical Education at the University of South Florida. She resides in Tampa, Fla.
