Boat Donations
For over 35 years the Eckerd College Waterfront Program has sponsored a volunteer group of students called EC-SAR (Eckerd College Search and Rescue) that assists Tampa Bay boaters. The services provided include towing, firefighting, jump starting dead batteries, etc.. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and run several patrols on weekends during the school year. Last year they responded to over 500 calls for assistance. There is no fee for their services. To offset these costs, the Waterfront sells donated boats and marine equipment. If you are interested in finding out more about EC-SAR, use the link at the left of the page.
These boats, engines, trailers, and equipment range in all sizes, types, and condition. Some boats are in perfect working order, others are "projects" in need of repair. We do basic cosmetic enhancements, and minor mechanical repairs to most vessels to increase their value before selling. This work is done by our student work force, giving them the opportunity to learn about boats and boat repair while they study here at the college.
One group of the engines that we have for sale are Mercury outboards in the 150hp, 225hp, and 250hp range that have less than one year of use. These are special promotional engines that have been well cared for and usually have some warranty left.
