Hometown: Capetown, S.A.
Why are you in this class?
I love movies and all movie related matters. I'm perfectly content to sit in a dark room for a week with periodic breaks for the bathroom and heated discussions about genre and montage.
What does independent film mean to you?
Independent cinema means a movie made for the purpose of expressing an honest thought without regard, or at least with less regard, for gouging money off the public.
Who is your favorite director?
Wes Anderson is the bomb-diggity, Jim Jarmush is great and The Coen brothers earned a place in my heart for the Big Lebowsky and Fargo.
What is your favorite independent film?
Pretty much anything by Wes Anderson blows my dome. I've committed The Big Lebowski to memory. There's a movie Smoke Signals that's pretty high on my list too and I haven't been able to stop thinking of Dead Man since I saw it.
What do you like in your films?
I like films that coalesce the human experience into plausible and viable forms.
If you were to make an independent film, what would it be about?
It would be like Mars Attacks meets The English Patient.
If you had to make an independent film, how would you get the money (be honest)?
What is the most exciting thing about going to Sundance?
I'm going to see a lot of really great movies and talk to a lot of interesting people about them.
What is the longest amount of time you would be willing to wait in line for a film?
Probably about 3 hours
