Whether in-person or virtually, Career Services offers professional events and programs throughout the year for students at all stages of their career development. The following are a small selection of what has been offered in years past and updated to a virtual format:
Career Contacts and Career Mentors
The Career Mentor Program and the Career Contacts Program pair students and recent graduates with seasoned alumni who can provide guidance during the transition from academia to the work world.
Networking Nights
A monthly series hosted by Career Services that brings employers and students together in an engaging and creative way. These events allow students to make lasting connections, discover job and internship opportunities, and practice telling their professional stories.
Autumn Term: College to Career
This annual event introduces first-year students to the Career Services team and the office’s services, with an emphasis on the on-campus job search and choosing a major. New students learn about simple steps they can take during the next four years to ensure success after graduation.
Internship Fest
Students who have completed internships teach other students about how to make the most of the experience. They discuss employers, learning outcomes, application processes and professional development.
Professional Panels
Throughout the year, Career Services hosts themed panels in partnership with alumni and academic departments. Previous speakers include writers, educators, scientists, business executives and government employees.
Senior Series
During Spring Semester, Career Services hosts a series of programs to prepare graduating seniors for the job market, money management and life after Eckerd. Guest speakers include successful Eckerd alumni and local professionals.
Career Camp
Held in the summer at the end of Spring Semester, Career Camp is a non-credit, four-week professionalization program for current students and new graduates. Small groups meet twice-weekly with a Career Services team member to learn the ins and outs of career exploration, applications, interviews, and networking strategies.
Career Journal
The goal of the Career journal is to help students develop and document their career story. Students are encouraged to update their journal with a career advisor at least once a year.
