For the second year in a row, an Eckerd College student has been awarded a Top 20 slot in the University of South Florida Frank and Ellen Daveler Entrepreneurship Program<\/a>.<\/h3>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” top_padding=”32″ overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” shape_type=””][vc_column column_padding=”padding-2-percent” column_padding_position=”right” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1\/2″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]Johanna Andersson \u201919, a business management<\/a> student from Malm\u00f6, Sweden, received the honor in an April 14 ceremony and presentation competition. Andersson started a company called POW (Pre, Post Power Workout) that is developing two products: a post-workout facial mist that removes bacteria while cooling the skin and a disposable palm cover inspired by kinesio tape to be used during lifting.<\/p>\n

As a Daveler Scholar, Andersson was awarded $2,500 and invited to pitch her company to a panel of experts and executives to win an additional $2,500 and the title of Daveler Fellow. She had come to Eckerd to play defender on the Women\u2019s Soccer team. \u201cI wanted to test my abilities out of my comfort zone, and I thought Florida was the perfect fit to do so,\u201d she explained. \u201cI was also amazed by Eckerd’s wonderful environment and I liked the size of the College.\u201d<\/p>\n

Director of Sustainability<\/a> and Instructor Evan Bollier \u201911 encouraged his students to apply to the Daveler competition in his course Creating an Entrepreneurial Mindset.<\/p>\n

\u201cI decided to apply because I saw it as a great opportunity to get one step closer toward my goals. I am very passionate about my business idea, and I would love to take it to the next level. The award will definitely be a good asset that enables me to bring my ideas into action,\u201d Andersson said.<\/p>\n

After graduation, Andersson hopes to keep POW going, even as she enters the workforce to generate more capital. \u201cI have a vision of owning my own business one day,\u201d she said, \u201cbut I also would like to work as a marketing manager for an events\/sports firm.\u201d[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
