Under Ryan\u2019s leadership, Triton Men\u2019s Basketball won five Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Championships and made 11 NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, which included one South Region Championship and two Sweet Sixteen finishes. He is Eckerd College\u2019s all-time-wins leader in Men\u2019s Basketball as well as a three-time SSC Coach of the Year (1998, 2001, 2016) and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Coach of the Year (2001).<\/p>\n
\u201cI am grateful for the many years in which I have been blessed with the opportunity to lead the Eckerd Men’s Basketball program,\u201d Ryan said. \u201cOur success on the court has been impressive, but I am even more proud of the academic and professional successes that our student-athletes have experienced during and beyond their time at Eckerd. I am confident that, with the help of the search committee, we will select the right person to continue to lead Triton Men’s Basketball to future successes,\u201d Ryan said.<\/p>\n

A forever Triton, Ryan graduated from Eckerd with a bachelor\u2019s degree in Management<\/a> and took a job the following fall as the College\u2019s Intramural Director and Assistant Men\u2019s Basketball Coach. Under Coach Harley, Eckerd made its first of 15 NCAA Tournament appearances in 1973. The Tritons made back-to-back trips in 1994 and 1995 and reached the Elite Eight in 2003. The program also made two additional Sweet 16 appearances (2007, 2018).<\/p>\n Eckerd College is a proud member of NCAA Division II<\/a>. With 14 teams and more than 200 athletes, the Eckerd Tritons have had remarkable success in the classroom as well as in their sports. The SSC has claimed 106 NCAA Division II National Championships since its inception while maintaining one of the highest aggregate ASR ratings in the country.<\/p>\n In 2017\u201318, Eckerd sent five programs to national tournaments (Women\u2019s Volleyball<\/a>, Men\u2019s Basketball, Women\u2019s Basketball<\/a>, Coed Sailing<\/a> and Women\u2019s Sailing<\/a>), and Women\u2019s Soccer qualified for postseason play at the conference level.
