Peace Corps announced this week<\/a> that Eckerd College ranked No. 3 among small schools on the agency\u2019s list of top volunteer-producing colleges and universities in 2020.<\/h3>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row type=”full_width_content” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” top_padding=”32″ overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none” shape_type=””][vc_column column_padding=”padding-5-percent” column_padding_position=”right” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1\/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]There are 14 Tritons currently volunteering in countries around the world.<\/p>\n

This is the fourth consecutive year that Eckerd College has ranked among the top 25 small schools. Eckerd College made a big jump in the rankings from No. 9, in 2019, to No. 3, in 2020.<\/p>\n

This is the seventh consecutive year that Florida has ranked among the top 10 volunteer producing states.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese schools are institutions that emphasize being global citizens and service-minded students,\u201d said Peace Corps Director Jody Olsen. \u201cI am excited to know the graduates coming from Peace Corps\u2019 Top Colleges are using their skills to make a positive impact on their communities at home and abroad.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since the agency\u2019s founding in 1961, 180 alumni from Eckerd College have served abroad as Peace Corps volunteers. Additionally, the state of Florida ranks No. 5 among states with the highest number of Peace Corps volunteers. There are 341 volunteers from the Sunshine State currently serving worldwide and over 8,585 Floridians have served in the Peace Corps since the agency\u2019s founding in 1961.<\/p>\n

The Peace Corps ranks its top volunteer-producing colleges and universities annually according to the size of the student body.
