Optical Physics, Missouri University of Science and Technology<\/li>\n<li>MS in Physics, Missouri University of Science and Technology<\/li>\n<li>M.Sc. in Physics, Tribhuvan University<\/li>\n<li>B.Sc. in Physics, Tribhuvan University<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Biography<\/h4>\n<p>Dr. Basu Lamichhane is an experimental AMO physicist with extensive experience in research, specifically in charge particle spectroscopy, cold atoms, scientific data acquisition and analysis, experimental designs, and ultra-high vacuum systems. He is a native of Nepal, a country known for its Himalayan terrain, where he spent his childhood and was raised. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, Rolla, MO, in 2018. During his Ph.D., Dr. Lamichhane conducted research on the few-body dynamics of the atomic scattering processes in proton-molecule collisions, which has fundamental importance and is vital to a wide range of areas in science such as nuclear physics, elementary particle physics, the science of plasma, and accelerator physics. After earning his doctoral degree, Dr. Lamichhane worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Temple University&#8217;s Physics Department, where he worked on the &#8220;Heavy Unseen Neutrinos by Total Energy-momentum Reconstruction (HUNTER)&#8221; project. This project is a sensitive search for sterile neutrinos, particles needed to solve the galactic dark matter problem. In the Fall of 2022, Dr. Lamichhane joined Eckerd College as an Assistant Professor in Physics, where he is pursuing his passion for teaching and research in Physics.
