He Earned his Ph.D. in physics from Western Michigan University, specializing in astrophysics. His research focuses on modeling time-dependent photoionization of the astrophysical plasmas, i.e. the physical conditions and spectra of astronomical plasmas photoionized by a varying source of energetic radiation over a wide range of wavelengths, from optical to X ray. In his research, he developed a model of plasmas composed of a mixture of 30 chemical elements and wrote a self-consistent numerical code based on the code XSTAR, developed by astrophysicists from NASA. After earning his Ph.D., he worked as a postdoctoral researcher and utilized his code to simulate time-dependent photoionization in astrophysical plasmas such as Planetary Nebulae (PNe), interstellar H II regions, and AGN outflows. His research contributes to advancements in both theoretical understanding and practical applications in astrophysics.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ahmed is deeply committed to both research and education, mentoring students while fostering curiosity and critical thinking in the classroom.
