Biography<\/h4>\n

Briana Harvey rejoined the faculty at Eckerd in 2025, after serving as a visiting professor during the 2022-2023 school year. She previously taught in the psychology department from 2014- 2018. A proud Eckerd alumna, Briana earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental studies<\/a>\u00a0with a minor in\u00a0marine biology<\/a>\u00a0before completing her M.A. in Experimental Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi, specializing in marine mammal behavior and cognition. After years of researching the social development of marine mammals, Briana\u2019s interests shifted toward understanding child development, inspired by her own experiences as a mother of three.<\/p>\n

Briana\u2019s teaching philosophy is rooted in creating a hands-on, active learning environment, influenced by her Montessori training and experience. She believes in fostering an inclusive, engaging classroom where students can connect with the material in meaningful ways. She is passionate about supporting students\u2019 academic growth and helping them develop critical thinking skills that extend beyond the classroom.<\/p>\n
