Since 2006 our graduates have earned advanced degrees from, or are enrolled in graduate programs at institutions such as Goddard College, Savannah College of Art &amp; Design, Pratt Institute, Maryland Institute College of Art, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Rochester Institute of Technology, Ohio University, University of Florida, Florida State University, University of South Florida, University of New Mexico, Southern Illinois University, University of Kentucky, Seattle University, Pennsylvania State University, George Mason University, Kent State University, University of Missouri, University of Delaware, Virginia Commonwealth University, Claremont Graduate School, Pacific Northwest College of Art, University of Indiana at Bloomington, Lesley University, Ball State University, American University, Texas A&amp;M at Corpus Christi, Hunter College, Watkins College of Art, Mills College of Art, Edinburgh College of Art (Scotland), and the Burren College of Art (Ireland).<\/p>\n<p>Our graduates ultimately travel down a great many career paths, many of them art-related. One can find our Visual Arts alumni\/ae engaged in art-related fields as varied as university or college teaching, public school teaching, sculpture, photography, design, illustration, advertising, graphic design, printmaking, visual effects, computer graphics, ceramics, functional pottery, jewelry, stained glass, painting, architecture, art direction, fashion design, community-based arts, film production, exhibition design, arts consulting, communications, performance art, woodworking, calligraphy, urban planning, theatre set design, lighting design, gallery owning, branding, landscape architecture, interior design, arts management and art therapy.<\/p>\n<p>Not all of our majors elect to pursue art as a career, for we also have had alumni\/ae who have chosen professions in fields as varied as civil engineering, psychotherapy, banking, retail sales, antiques, online networking, computer programming, music, military intelligence, social work, golf instruction, nursing, nutrition, youth ministry, law, radiology, real estate, and the list goes on!<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what some of our alumni are up to&#8230;[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=&#8221;No Line&#8221; custom_height=&#8221;32&#8243;][vc_column_text]\n<h3>Selected Visual Arts alumni updates<\/h3>\n[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=&#8221;No Line&#8221; custom_height=&#8221;32&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221; text_direction=&#8221;default&#8221;]<a href=\"http:\/\/jason-adkins.com\/\">Jason Adkins \u201996<\/a> (MFA, Claremont Graduate University) is a painter now based in <a href=\"https:\/\/imagesarizona.com\/instinct-ingenuity-art-jason-adkins\/\">Arizona<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/research.umkc.edu\/surgilab\/people\/team-member-4\">Margaret Brommelsiek \u201980<\/a> recently retired as Associate Research Professor in the School of Nursing and Health Studies at the University of Missouri \/ Kansas City. She has spent many years developing interdisciplinary programs between the fine arts and other academic subjects.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/artsinactionllc.com\/grace-anne-alfiero\/\">Grace-Anne Alfiero \u201804<\/a> (MFA, Goddard) is President and CEO at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artsinactionllc.com\/\">Arts in Action<\/a> in Philadelphia, a consulting firm for non-profit organizations. She was founder of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.creativeclay.org\/\">Creative Clay<\/a> in St. Petersburg, and served as its Executive Director until 2011.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.giftedworks.fyi\/\">Kristin Baker \u201985<\/a> is a teacher of gifted children, and in 2017 the New Jersey Association for Gifted Children recognized Kristin as Teacher of the Year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/landinstitute.org\/about-us\/staff\/glory-benacka\/\">Glory Benacka \u201906<\/a> is a greenhouse supervisor at The Land Institute in Salina, Kansas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/aablauro.myportfolio.com\/\">Andrew Blaurock \u201921<\/a> is a biologist and graphic artist at <a href=\"https:\/\/aabexotics.com\/\">AABexotics<\/a> in Largo, Florida.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artwithin.net\/joybrown\/index.html\">Joy Brown \u201972<\/a> has exhibited her ceramic sculptures in one-person shows in Europe and Asia, and her work has been prominently featured in Ceramics Monthly. Joy is also co-founder and president of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stillmountaincenter.org\/index.php\">Still Mountain Center<\/a>, a nonprofit arts organization in Connecticut whose mission is to support, promote and celebrate artistic exchange between the United States and Asia. His cd package design for his own collaborative recording <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Clouds_(album)\">Clouds<\/a> was one of five finalists for a Grammy Award in 2006. Stu earned a Masters of Architecture from Ball State University (in addition to his MFA from Indiana University), and he also is a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/m12studio.org\/about-m12-studi\/\">M12 Studio<\/a>, an innovative art and design collective that explores the aesthetics of rural cultures and landscapes. In 2018, with the <a href=\"http:\/\/stuarthyatt.org\/field-works\">Field Works Collective<\/a>, he composed and premiered a new album with a sold-out live performance from deep inside the <a href=\"https:\/\/sightlinesmag.org\/stuart-hyatt-pens-suite-cave-without-name\">Cave Without a Name<\/a>, near Bourne, Texas. In 2019, Stuart was honored by being named a <a href=\"https:\/\/explorers.nationalgeographic.org\/directory\/stuart-hyatt\">National Geographic Explorer<\/a>.\u00a0 And in 2020 Stu\u2019s recording \u201cUltrasonic\u201d was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/06\/10\/arts\/music\/bats-field-works-ultrasonic.html\">reviewed<\/a> in the New York Times.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/djjacksonart.net\/\">D.J. Jackson \u201912<\/a> is now an independent scientific illustrator.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.marthaensignjohnson.com\/\">Martha Ensign Johnson \u201975<\/a> is now retired from teaching printmaking at Westmont College, and currently lives and works in Asheville, NC.<\/p>\n<p>Blaze Birge Jones \u201998 was a founding member of the <a href=\"http:\/\/flynncreekcircus.com\/\">Flynn Creek Circus<\/a> in Mendocino County, California, committed to \u201cpushing tradition to the edge.\u201d Blaze is Creative Director of the circus, and specializes as a trapeze artist.
