I’ll never forget the awe I felt when I first met Dr. Wiesel in the beginning of Winter Term and the contrast between his soft voice and powerful words. But also, his humanity. Elie Wiesel taught me to ask myself, “Is it meaningful?”—whenever I face big decisions. I also thank him for introducing me to Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita, and I recommend it to almost anyone whenever it comes up. My mom spent the next year or so reading and studying all the references after I told her how much I enjoyed reading that novel in our class.
