Dr. April Allen Buck Endowed Research Fund

The Dr. April Allen Buck Endowed Research Fund was created to honor the memory of Professor April Buck.

April believed strongly in education and impacting the world around us. On May 19, 2017, she passed away from triple negative breast cancer after only two years as a human development professor at Eckerd College.

April had a firm commitment to education, as witnessed by her own undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Psychology and Human Development from the University of Texas. She valued creativity and innovation, which is why Eckerd has honored her by dedicating in her name the research lab in the Roberts Music Center that she helped the school build. She also valued a positive attitude and optimism, which was evident to everyone she came in contact with.

The Dr. April Buck Endowed Research Fund was established to continue the legacy April began in the limited time she was here with us. One of her biggest wishes was to have an impact on students and, through them, the world. She believed that engaging students in research at the undergraduate level developed the talents and skills that would enhance their future impact. Contributions to the fund help keep April’s dream alive by providing research opportunities, in perpetuity, to current and future Eckerd students.
