Welcome to Housing at Eckerd College!

Living on campus is a major part of student life. With over 1400 of our students living in the residence halls, Eckerd College is proud to offer several options when it comes to on-campus living. With twelve residential complexes, our residence halls range from traditional rooms with a shared common area to apartment style suites with incredible views of Boca Ciega Bay.

Amenities & Floor Plans

All dorm rooms have:

  • air-conditioning
  • cable television (included in room rates)
  • a bed and extra long twin mattress (36” wide x 80” long), a desk, a chair, a closet/wardrobe and a dresser for each student
  • free Internet access through Wi-Fi and ethernet connections

There are lounges, courtyards, vending machines, laundry facilities, and study areas in all complexes.

Floor Plans

While floor plans vary from complex to complex, most of our buildings have shared bathrooms and dorm rooms with double-occupancy, meaning students share a room with one other student. We have no triple or quad occupancy rooms on campus. The majority of our single rooms are reserved by upper-class returning students.

All residence halls are smoke free. Alpha, Beta, Iota and Sigma complexes are designated as completely smoke free environments, which includes all complex courtyards. View details of each residence hall.

Beta, Delta and Zeta Lounge Renovations

With the success of the recently renovated Zeta Lounge, the lounges of the Beta and Delta complexes have also been renovated, featuring an enhanced kitchen area with two stoves, two microwaves, two ovens, dishwasher, granite and butcher block counters. A flat screen TV with surround sound and a switcher allows students to connect game systems and media players. The lounges also feature ample study and meeting space along with new couches, chairs and barstool seating.

Disability Services

Any student who has a medically-related need that may affect his or her room assignment must submit a letter from a physician certifying the condition. Each request will receive serious evaluation, with decisions being based on housing availability and current legal standards. For more information please visit the Counseling Center’s webpage.

Residence Life Staff

Each building has at least one student Resident Advisor (RA) who is available for basic academic and personal counseling and is generally responsible for the residents of their assigned house. Resident Advisors and student residents are supported by Assistance Residence Coordinators that are responsible for specific complexes. Additionally, there are two full-time professional residence life staff (Residence Coordinators) who live on campus and are supported by the Director of Residence Life, the Student Affairs staff, and the Dean of Students.

Meet our Residence Life Staff.

Room Assignments

First year students are assigned to rooms throughout the different complexes and are paired by the college based on the preferences selected on their New Student Housing Application. Returning students are given first choice of rooms for the following academic year at Room Draw, with the Omega and Nu Complexes reserved for upperclassmen. Themed housing provides opportunities for students to live together based on similar interests.
