Eckerd College Celebrates the Life of Laura Ann Gorman

 Eckerd College celebrates the life of Laura Ann Gorman, who died tragically in an automobile accident early Saturday morning, February 25, 2006, in St. Petersburg.
Laura was a popular freshman student majoring in business and a member of the cheerleading squad. Her residence at Eckerd College was West Lodge.
A memorial service will be held in McArthur Gymnasium on Tuesday, March 7 at 4:15 p.m. Click here to read President Donald R. Eastman's remarks given at Laura's eulogy. During this service, students, faculty, and staff will have an opportunity to pay tribute to Laura and to share memories of her with one another. Immediately following the service in the gymnasium, those assembled will be invited to join together to plant a tree in Laura’s memory. Click here to read President Donald R. Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Laura came to Eckerd College from Gibbs High School, where she was a cheerleader all four years. She attended elementary and middle school at St. Jude’s School and was a member of the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle. More recently, she was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She is survived by her parents, Roderick J. “Rod”, Jr. and Helen M. Gorman, and her sister, Diana Gorman; her maternal grandmother, Lillian Miara, of Clearwater; and her paternal grandparents, Roderick and Elizabeth Gorman, of Newburyport, Mass.
