Eckerd College junior Lindsay Biggs '14 was in select national company after being chosen as a member of the Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Volleyball Team announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The outside hitter continued to reap the rewards of a strong fall campaign which includes recent AVCA Second-Team All-American honors, AVCA All-South Region Team mention and First-Team All-Sunshine State Conference honors.

Only 18 student-athletes from across the country were picked to either the first, second or third Capital One Academic All-American Division II Volleyball Team®. Biggs represented the District 5 South Region.

"We're really proud of Lindsay's commitment and dedication to not just volleyball, but also in the classroom," EC Head Coach Michelle Piantadosi said. "She continues to put Eckerd on the map by being a leader for our team and our athletic programs as a whole."

Biggs went on the original ballot with a 3.77 cumulative GPA while majoring in Biology. She was chosen as a Capital One First-Team Academic All-District selection in early November to be automatically eligible for All-American consideration.

In addition, the Topeka, Kan., product earned Daktronics Second Team All-South Region status and helped the Tritons to the program's sixth trip to the NCAA Championship South Regional. She led the team in kills (417) and service aces (35) while compiling the second-most digs (355).

The Tritons finished the year with a 21-10 overall record and a runner-up placing in the SSC standings.

Biggs is Eckerd's second Capital One Academic All-American this fall after men's soccer senior Matt Duffy was tabbed a first-team selection.
