Jeff Evanier '14 Warrants Selection to Men's Golf PING Division II All-South Region Team

posted on 06/05/2013

As announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America, Eckerd College rising senior Jeff Evanier '14 garnered a well-deserved selection to the PING Division II All-South Region Team following the end of the 2012-13 season.

A total of 109 players from eight different regions earned the honor. Seventeen student-athletes were selected from the South Region alone.

Earlier this spring, Evanier was a Second Team All-Sunshine State Conference selection and helped pilot the Tritons to the NCAA Championship South Regional for the second year in a row.

Eckerd jumped to No. 10 in the final NCAA South Region rankings with a strong regular-season finish to clinch the coveted postseason bid.

Evanier was also named to the SSC All-Tournament Team after finishing second individually in the talented field at the conference meet in Dade City.

Additionally, he was presented with the team's MVP Award at the Eckerd athletics banquet after shattering the school's single-season 18-hole scoring record this season.

The junior's year was highlighted with three top-10 finishes and another five performances inside the top-25. He fired a career-best round of 67 (-4) in the opening round of the Buccaneer Invitational.
