Welcome to Eckerd!

My name is Sean Lauwers and I am excited to be your admissions counselor! You’ve chosen a school that will empower you to follow whatever path you want, or create your own!

I graduated from Elon University with a bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications and from the University of Florida with a Master’s of Education. I’ve always felt strongly about helping others realize their own potential and figure out what they want to do. I’ve had the privilege of experiencing a liberal arts program, and I can safely say it enriched my life. At Eckerd, we strongly believe in the liberal arts, through which you will study a broad variety of subjects, in addition to your chosen major, which help you prepare for the world beyond Eckerd.

Part of the liberal arts program is encountering a number of different experiences. At Eckerd, you will start your freshman year with a 3-week orientation known as Autumn Term, you can jump-start your academic career by getting involved in research, you can prepare for a fulfilling future in the Peace Corps, and you can learn through living on Florida’s beautiful Gulf Coast. These exciting opportunities give you a taste of all that Eckerd College has to offer as you learn and grow through the liberal arts!
