Admission Counselor
Hi, I’m John, I graduated from Eckerd in 2025, and now I’m excited to return to the same college and St. Pete area that became my home away from home! Originally born and raised in Massachusetts, I decided it was worth my approximate 1,400 mile trip down after I had a chance to tour our beautiful waterfront campus. Eckerd offered me the perfect opportunity to balance my academic, career and personal goals all in one place, while also feeling a part of a community. I hope as your Admission Counselor I’m able to provide you with the same experience!
During my time at Eckerd, I studied Literature in a variety of different contexts. From Shakespeare to Faulkner, I covered centuries of texts that all contributed to my greater understanding of the literary world, and how this evolution led us to where we are today. Reading works from a wide spectrum of authors allowed me to also develop a better sense of my own identity, as both a student, person and a writer. Using this knowledge, I applied it to the Creative Writing courses I took and turned my passion into a minor in the field. Without my mentors pushing me to produce my absolute best work, I would not be where I am today.
Outside of classes, I worked for our student-led newspaper, Triton Publications, where I started as the sports editor and became the editor-in-chief. Recognized as an award-winning publication, students contribute impactful and relevant work with their articles and story ideas. Not to mention, it was a great way for myself and my fellow students to stay involved with not only the Eckerd community, but the greater St. Pete community as well. This opportunity and experience is what led me to feel so strongly about returning to Eckerd as an Admission Counselor, where I am excited to guide students through the application process and help them find a sense of belonging here at Eckerd, the same as I did.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions! I’m happy to chat about your potential future at Eckerd!
