Admission Counselor

Hello! My name is Ruby Schwartz and I am so excited to be your Admission Counselor! I am a recent Eckerd graduate and am thrilled to be back on campus to help guide you through the admissions process. I am originally from Maryland, and am part of the approximately 80% of students who come from out of state to attend Eckerd College. 

During my time as a student at Eckerd College, I double majored in marine science and anthropology. The mentorship I received from professors within each field made it possible for me to major in two very different disciplines that I am passionate about while still graduating within four years. As a student, I was heavily involved in the Admission Office as a student ambassador. I was also an active leader of Eckerd College Hillel, which is the Jewish student life organization on campus. 

While at Eckerd, I took advantage of our study abroad programs by going abroad four times! I was able to visit Bimini in the Bahamas, Cuba, Thailand, and even went to Antarctica! Eckerd is ranked number one in the nation for short-term study abroad programs. I was also a part of the Johnston-Ford Apprentice Scholars program, where I learned in-depth about the value of a liberal arts education and conducted summer research culminating in a marine science thesis. 

Outside of Eckerd, I am an avid reader and crafter! I can usually be found with a book or bead embroidery project nearby. I also love the beach, and sunny St. Petersburg is home to some amazing beaches.
