Outbound exchanges

To demonstrate its commitment to global education, Eckerd College sponsors semester- and academic year-long outbound exchange programs for students.

These programs allow students to study at partner institutions around the world while earning Academic credit and experiencing new cultures.

International Student Exchange Program (ISEP)

Eckerd has been a member of ISEP—a Global Exchange Network of over 300 universities in 50 countries—for 40 years and is the only participating college in Florida. Create a study abroad experience tailored to your academic and personal interests!

  • Access to over 300 partner institutions worldwide
  • Students may list up to 10 exchange locations on their application (5-6 recommended).
  • Flexibility in destination selection is encouraged.
  • Courses available in most disciplines.
  • Instruction in English and other languages
  • Semester and academic year exchanges
  • Students pay Eckerd tuition, room, and board.

France – Catholic University of Lille (Lille)

Italy – John Cabot University (Rome)

Japan – Kansai Gaidai University (Hirakata, Osaka)

Experience Japanese culture firsthand while studying in Osaka, one of Japan’s most dynamic cities, and developing your Japanese language skills!

  • Asian Studies curriculum with courses in Arts, Sciences, and Business Administration

Japan – Nanzan University (Nagoya)

Explore modern and traditional Japan while studying at a leading international university in the vibrant city of Nagoya.

England – University of Plymouth (Plymouth, England)

Live and learn along England’s scenic southwest coast while studying at a university known for academic excellence in marine and environmental sciences.

Costs and scholarships for exchange programs

Each student’s financial aid package is unique. Students should meet with the Office of Financial Aid to discuss study abroad funding and determine their eligibility.

Need-based scholarships are available to apply to through the Risser Center for Global Education. Students are also encouraged to apply for external scholarships.
