“For me, Eckerd wasn’t just where I went to college—it’s where I found my voice, my confidence, and my ability to survive on very little sleep. It’s where I learned that education isn’t just about what happens in the classroom but about the experiences that push us beyond our comfort zones—whether through study abroad, hands-on research, or those deep, late-night conversations that only happen at a place like this.

I was able to attend Eckerd and even participate in a study abroad program because of a scholarship funded by people who believed in the power of education and the potential of a student they had never even met. That gift didn’t just make my college experience possible—it changed the trajectory of my life.

Because Eckerd gave so much to me, I’ve made it a priority to give back. 15 years ago, as a brand new, young alum, I wish I could say that I immediately became a high-rolling donor. Shockingly, that was not the case (turns out, student loans don’t care about your commitment to philanthropy). But I could give consistently within my means.

The scholarships, innovative programs, and experiential learning that make Eckerd so transformative exist because donors believe in this College’s mission. When we give, we’re not just supporting an institution; we’re investing in the next generation of Eckerd students who will go on to do incredible things.”
