Biography
Dr. Megan Kelley is an Instructor of Animal Studies at Eckerd College, where she also teaches Elasmobranch Biology and Management for the marine science program. Her courses explore animal behavior, ecology, and conservation through an interdisciplinary lens, including Wild Cat Science, Wildlife Rehabilitation, and Sharks and Society.
Dr. Kelley’s research examines how predator movements and behaviors influence resource use and nutrient dynamics in coastal ecosystems, with particular interest in large mobile marine predators, such as nurse sharks. She integrates acoustic telemetry, stable-isotope analysis, and physiological methods to investigate how individual variability may shape ecological and conservation outcomes.
When not teaching or conducting fieldwork, she enjoys exploring Florida’s coastal habitats, crafting, and sharing her passion for marine science through outreach and experiential education.
