Dear Eckerd community,
All of us are deeply saddened by the shooting at Florida State University’s Strozier Library. Our thoughts are with the victims, and our hearts go out to them, their families and friends, and the entire FSU community.
The safety of everyone on this campus is our No. 1 priority, and Eckerd’s emergency response plan includes a close collaboration with the St. Petersburg Police Department. That plan works best with your cooperation and assistance. It’s simple: If you see something, say something. Contact the Campus Safety Department at 727-864-8260.
Please continue to cooperate with check-in procedures at our front entrance, which allow us to monitor closely those coming and going from campus. In addition, safety training resources are available on the Campus Safety website.
The Eckerd College Office of Outreach Services (727-864-8407) and the Counseling Center (727-864-8248) are available for those who may have had friends or family involved in last night’s tragedy, or those who simply want to talk.
Even as we learn more about this tragedy, let’s keep working together for the safety of us all.
